Summer School: New Trends and Directions in Harmonic Analysis, Approximation Theory, and Image Analysis

The workshop was intended to bring together leading international scientists and young researchers from different facets of harmonic analysis, approximation theory and signal and image analysis to present their latest cutting-edge research and to establish new and exciting directions for future investigations.
Over the last few decades, research in harmonics analysis and approximation theory has spawned the developent of new methods and bridged the gap to the natural sciences. It was our goal to engage the participants in discussions relating to these themes and to initiate interdisciplinary collaborations.
The summer school took place at Inzell in the comfortable Hotel Chiemgauer Hof. The 42 participants came from 15 different countries: Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, U.K., U.S.A., and Venezuela.
Excellent plenary lectures where held by Professors Benedetto, Christensen, Gröchenig, Unser and Weiss. The young researchers contributed sixteen talks and various poster presentations.
Because of the generous support by the VolkswagenStiftung and the GSF - National Research Centre for Environment and Health we were able to support almost all participating young researchers and to cover a good part of their travel expenses. We thank all our sponsors for their valuable contribution.
